Among the 21 sailing yachts nominated for the European Yacht of the Year 2027, the SKAW [A], designed by Lorient-based start-up SKAW Sailing, received an enthusiastic welcome from the jury members — journalists from across Europe — following a series of sea trials held last week off Palma de Mallorca.
Benoît Marie, designer and co-founder of SKAW Sailing, commented : “The jury members really loved our new yacht. They were particularly impressed by the interior volume we offer and how easy the SKAW [A] is to handle. We hope they will cast their votes in our favour ! Beyond that, the past few weeks have been incredibly valuable for us. We tested our scow in a wide range of conditions and on every point of sail during our delivery trip from Lorient. Last week’s sea trials with the journalists also helped us fine-tune the final details of the yacht’s setup and gave us the opportunity to introduce our yacht to several prospective clients, who seem genuinely excited by our innovative concept.”
The SKAW [A] will remain in Palma for a few more days before heading to Port Grimaud, where it will spend the winter and continue its programme of sea trials.
