At SKAW, we are serious about RnD. It always starts with understanding physics, then we follow our intuition and test our innovative ideas on the computer. We develop our in-house tailor-made tools to understand better and design. We often challenge and partner with our America's Cup friends and colleagues, asking CFD and structural experts when confirmation is needed.

Because we are makers, and nothing matches real-life testing, we designed and made Vini Lab, our eco-designed and built RnD test lab. We use it to test various design parameters, ranging from hull shapes to foil geometries, stiffnesses, positioning, and rigging balance. Testing it at a lower scale allows for drastically reduced cost and time design loops while gathering valuable real-life data, such as wave response.

And as our Planet is a finite world, we made this test lab out of aeronautical and sail racing wastes. Since we want to make a better world, we made it an ideal upcycled platform proving that it is possible to reduce the carbon footprint of our beloved industry.
